As already implied in the company’s name, Analog Obsession is a company dedicated to recreating the sonic character and other various features of pro audio analog equipment in the digital world. MPReq is a plugin that models a microphone preamplifier with a program EQ on board. It was not stated which particular hardware it models, but it says in the press release it models ‘something from the 50s’. They emulated original fingerprint of gears from that Era with their technology by carefully replicating the transformers, tubes, mic-amp sound and the program eq.
The microphone preamplifier section features a gain control which goes from 20 to 70db. While the EQ section features 2 bands with boost and cut. The low band is set at 100Hz and high band and at 12kHz. The plugin comes in AAX, AU, and VST2 formats.
